Do you like art? Well, writing is just
like art. With your words, you paint a beautiful picture! We learn
to grab our reader's attention with an exciting first sentence. Gone are
"The Ends" at the end of our story, and in their place are fabulous
endings. We become much more creative than that! We notice what great authors
do and imitate them! We use fabulous words: onomatopoeia,
hyperboles, similes, and metaphors.... and so much more! We share memories...
our favorite memories, funny memories, and sometimes the sad! Creative
writing is so much fun. If you don’t love writing now, I hope you will by
the end of the year!
Here is a list of great writing prompts, try a few at home with your child. Have your child write alone and share, or write together as a family - be creative, work on great word choice, and have fun! There are hundreds of fantastic prompts to try:
