Principal's Greeting

Welcome to the Fullerton Elementary Magnet Website.

Fullerton, opening in the fall of 1998, became a Communication Skills and Electronic Media Magnet Center during the 1999-2000 school year.  Fullerton serves students from Pre-K through 4th grade from all over the city!  Currently we have around 540 students attending, with an average class size of 23 students.  We love our diversity, which includes many different nationalities, cultures, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to the education of young people.  They put in the extra time needed at a magnet center to meet the needs of every student.  Our focus is on communication skills and electronic media, which includes writing, oral multi-media presentations, newspaper, TV, and radio.  We strongly encourage and welcome parent participation at Fullerton. Our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is very active and is a key component to our success.

Come visit us, we'd love to show you the great things happening here! We are located in the Hillsborough sub-division, between Fort and Maple on 138th St.  The site is beautifully landscaped and adjacent to Hillsborough Park.

If you are unable to visit, please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments.

Personal Information

It is truly an honor to be the instructional leader at Fullerton Magnet School.  I have spent my entire educational career in the Omaha Public Schools.  I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Hastings College.  I started my educational career as a third grade teacher at Minne Lusa Elementary.  During that time I worked on a Master's Degree in Educational Administration at Doane College.  After completing the Master's program at Doane I was asked to become the Assistant Principal at Minne Lusa Elementary.  I served in that position for two years and was then asked to become the principal of Florence Elementary School.  I was the principal at Florence for 7 years before being asked to become the principal at Fullerton Magnet.  I recently finished certification in Instructional Technology through UNO and UNK and was fortunate enough to be selected as the 2008 AIM Institute K-12 Technology Teacher of the Year.  I'm a true believer in life-long learning and hope to some day pursue a doctorate.
