About Me

My name is Kathleen Ronayne. Welcome to Fullerton Elementary and “Star City.” This is my 22nd year of teaching. Besides teaching second grade, I have previous  experience as a computer teacher in grades K-College. I earned my B. S. in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University and my Masters from Peru State College. My oldest son is in law enforcement, and my triplets are in college and/or pursuing their careers.  My youngest daughter is now a junior at Omaha North High School. Our house rounds out with with a dog named Bear. I enjoy movies, digital photography, gardening, and a good book. I know room 10 will have an awesome year! Come see us anytime!

Welcome to Ms. Ronayne's Star City!

Besides using the traditional reading basal, students will explore reading using a variety of different formats.  Some of these include: guided reading, literature circles, reading independently, reading with a partner, listening to books on CD or tape, and journaling about what they are reading.  Students will grow tremendously as readers in the second grade and a big part of this is reading at home.  I recommend 20-30 minutes each night to help students with this growth. Thank you!

Math

Second grade uses the Go Math series.  This school year, we will be learning about addition, subtraction, graphing, money, time, and much more.

I have enjoyed using the Go Math series!  Students learn a variety of strategies to help them solve math problems.
