Welcome to the Gifted and Talented program
at Fullerton Magnet Elementary!
Students are identified for the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program by looking at many components. Formal assessments such as InView, MAP, and NeSA, help us to identify high ability and gifted students for the GATE program. Students who have qualified for the GATE program can be served in a number of ways through direct and indirect instruction.
Direct services include specialized instruction or independent projects with the gifted facilitator and are designed for students who score in the high ability or gifted range.
Indirect services are the result of teamwork between the GATE facilitator, school staff and administration to support the gifted/high ability student. This might include testing, materials and curriculum collaboration, or enhancement of grade level content standards to meet the needs of each gifted/high ability student.
